To improve aerodynamics, the bus was equipped with a transforming suspension: when driving on a specially prepared roadway, the Superbus is pressed to the ground, leaving a minimum ground clearance, and when driving on standard roads, its clearance increases to 43 centimeters. “Superbus is flexible enough to meet a wide variety of transportation needs. Two types of interior cabins have been provided for people who travel in groups or individually. The “flexibility” of the concept is also that there are no fixed routes, and the departure and destination are determined in accordance with the wishes of the passengers. At the same time, Superbus can move on ordinary roads, it can easily work in the existing infrastructure,” the developers note. The “superbus” was being worked on by a team of engineers from the Delft University of Technology as part of a project to develop high-speed electric buses . The authors of the concept promise maximum safety when using it due to an obstacle detection system (the car will be equipped with radars and an electronic navigation and control assistant), high maneuverability and a powerful braking system. It is planned that innovative electric buses will run between major cities along lanes specially allocated for them, which will be laid next to existing highways. To ensure safe year-round traffic, geothermal heating systems will be installed in the routes for new vehicles. Also, according to the developers, passenger transportation will not be carried out according to the schedule, but as orders are received, which will be processed through the logistics control center. “Superbus is a new concept for sustainable mobility that consists of a new vehicle, new infrastructure and new logistics. To develop the concept of the bus, all available intellectual potential and innovative technologies were applied, at the same time, to create a special infrastructure within which the Superbus will be able to move at a speed of 250 km / h, it will be necessary to build roads from relatively inexpensive concrete, ”says the website.
Ultra-modern and very comfortable “superbus” is the brainchild of the Dutch physicist and astronaut Wubbo Ockels (Wubbo Ockels). Superbus length is 15 meters, width – 2.55 meters and height – 1.65 meters, weight – 9.5 tons, and its capacity is within 23 seats.
